Reading----Use the chart, "To Understand/interpret a Story, readers Pay attention to....." that you pasted into your composition book to analyze the way the author of your book writes about Characters, Plot, Setting and any repeated objects. Circle or highlight an element that you haven't been thinking about deeply and that you want to notice more.

5th graders (Writing/Oral presentation)----Practice your speech, due tomorrow

Math: 5th graders ----two word problems #13 and 14 on page 16 of your math textbook
(also available online)
4th graders-----Explain why using drawings, diagrams, words, and numbers why we compare numbers beginning from the left after you line them up by place value. Complete your explanation in your math journal.

Tuesday, 9/29

reading----read 30 minutes then write in your composition book about the character's perspective and or create a character web from the book you just read (fiction or a biography)

5th grade writing: practice your speech, speech due Friday

4th and 5th :     reading a great book and get inspired to write, write in your comp book

4th grade math: finish 1-2 from pearson, work on page 22-23 in common core packet

5th grade math: solve the following problems pictorially using place value charts

Wednesday, 9/23/15

Math: 4th grade----finish 1.1 practice and reteach, or go on to 1.2 if ready to move on
5th grade---come up with two more standard  numbers to represent with base ten, word form, expanded notation and place value in your math notebook

reading-----30 minutes
4th grade----look at how the author "lived differently"
5th grade ----pick one of the reading strategies to try out from our poster

P.E tomorrow---where comfortable clothes
Spirit day tomorrow where college stuff
Chili's fundraiser---eat at Scripps Pwy Pkwy Chili's for Hage's restaurant fundraiser
